Origins Africa Retreat is an eco-lodge for small groups that blends the adventure of Africa with comfort that's kind to the planet.

The retreat venue is designed for yoga teachers, photographers, university groups and others who want to host a special gathering of friends.

Our newly-built lodge accommodates up to 18 people in beautiful en-suite rooms and stunning private chalets. We’ll take care of everything you need on the ground, so you’re free to focus on your guests and the experience.

We’re located on a dramatic hilltop in the highlands of Tanzania – far from the crowds of the tourist trail, rooted in nature and community. Our small and passionate team works between here and Edinburgh, Scotland, to give you a splendidly old fashioned, personal service.

Origins Story

Origins Africa Retreat was born from founder Dave’s two-decade journey in Tanzania, where his work in hospitality and education led to deep, lasting connections. But it was the small friendly town of Iringa that truly captured his heart – with its rolling hills, rich traditions, and people who welcome strangers like family.

Working hand-in-hand with the community, Dave built more than a retreat space; he built a platform for shared growth. Every visit brings income and opportunity to local artisans, builders, and families. Guests don’t just observe; they take part in weaving, drumming, cooking, and market – experiences that preserve culture and fuel the local economy.
